Breaking News, Digital Desk: Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of alcohol drinkers in the country. According to a report, about 16 crore people in India consume alcohol. Of these, 95 percent are men, whose age is between 18 to 49 years. Billions of liters of alcohol is consumed every year in the country. 

According to the report released by survey company CRISIL, in the year 2020, 5 states namely Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. According to research, Chhattisgarh tops the states with highest alcohol consumption. In Chhattisgarh, a state with a population of about 3 crores, about 35.6 percent people consume alcohol. 

Tripura is at second place in this list. In Tripura, 34.7 percent people consume alcohol. Of these, 13.7 percent people consume alcohol regularly (alcohol facts).

In Andhra Pradesh, which is third in this list, about 34.5 percent people consume alcohol regularly. Punjab is fourth in the list. In Punjab, which has a population of about 3 crore, 28.5 percent people consume alcohol. Among these, the number of regular drinkers is 6 percent.

Let us tell you that 28 percent of the population of Arunachal Pradesh, which is at number 5, consumes alcohol. Whereas in Goa, which is at number six, about 26.4 percent of the population consumes alcohol. Kerala comes at number 7. According to NFHS report, 19.9 percent people consume alcohol (alcohol news).

West Bengal is at number eight in this list. In this state with a population of about 10 crores, 14 percent i.e. about 1.4 crore people consume alcohol. 

In Tamil Nadu, with a population of 7.3 crore, about 15 percent of the people consume alcohol. Karnataka comes at number 10. In Karnataka, with a population of 6.2 crore, about 11 percent of the people consume alcohol.

In terms of numbers, according to the report of economic research agency ICRIER and law consulting firm PLR Chambers, Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of people drinking alcohol (Most drunk state in the country). 

After this comes West Bengal. Apart from the prohibition states Bihar and Gujarat, Rajasthan (2.1 per cent) and Meghalaya (3.4 per cent) consume the least amount of alcohol.
