There are many holidays during the festive season during Dussehra and Diwali. If you think that scammers are also on holidays during these days, then you are wrong. Actually, scammers want you to be on holidays and use mobile and other gadgets, so that they get a chance to cheat you.

Due to the holiday during Dussehra and Diwali, many people spend more time on their smartphones. This gives scammers an opportunity to cheat you. Here we are telling you how scammers cheat during the festive season.

Fake online deals

Scammers advertise huge discounts and attractive offers on fake websites or social media. People visit these websites and make payments, but do not receive the goods.

Phishing email

During festivals, fake emails or SMS are sent which look like bank or e-commerce websites. These contain fake links which work to steal your personal information.

Fake gifts and lucky draws

Some scammers lure you with fake lucky draws or free gifts on the occasion of festivals. They may ask you for registration fees or other information first, with the aim of committing fraud.

Fraud through payment apps

Scammers try to extort money from people by sending them UPI payment links. In this, they call you pretending to be your relative or friend.

Sometimes scammers call pretending to be bank officials and talk about freezing your account. To avoid this, they ask for OTP and as soon as you give the OTP, money is deducted from your account.
