12 roads and one bridge will be built in Jammu with Rs 152 crores, the speed will increase
Jammu News: There is a good news for Jammu and Kashmiris. 12 roads and one bridge will be built here under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. Rs 152.38 crore will be spent for this. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi. According to the 2001 census, Jammu and Kashmir should have had a population of more than 250 people.
The Kalamkar, Digital Media (Jammu-Kashmir News): The Union Rural Development Ministry has approved the project of expansion of 12 roads and one bridge in Jammu and Kashmir under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
It is estimated that Rs 152.38 crore will be spent on this. This will improve road connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir. 12 roads will be built under the scheme, which will be 134 kilometers long.
233 road projects, 1750 km long, 66 bridges approved
Apart from this, under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-3, 233 road projects, 66 bridges and a distance of 1750 kilometers have been approved. It will cost Rs 2245.46 crore. On February 16, the final 24 proposals for 2023 were approved. The scheme was launched in Jammu and Kashmir in 2001–2002, with the objective of providing road connectivity to villages.
According to the 2001 census, Jammu and Kashmir should have had a population of more than 250 people. 2140 rural settlements were included in the first and second programs of the scheme. The Ministry of Rural Development sanctioned 3435 works, which included 239 bridges, 2741 new connectivity works and expansion of 684 roads.
So far 2118 settlements have been connected
19049 km long roads were built at a cost of Rs 12565 crore. In the first and second phase of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, despite adverse circumstances in Jammu and Kashmir, the target was achieved by 98.5 percent. So far 2118 settlements have been added. The target is to connect the remaining 23 settlements by March 2024.
In the third phase of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, 521.09 km long roads have been expanded, for which Rs 11723 crore 57 lakh has been spent.
Jammu and Kashmir has made continuous progress since 2019 under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. Nine thousand kilometers of roads are being built. Jammu and Kashmir has been ranked third in the country in this scheme in 2020–2021 and 2022–2022.
