Mahindra, a company selling SUVs within the country, is also one of them. Mahindra had a total of 2.86 lakh order bookings as of early November 2023.
Due to which there was a waiting period of more than 12 months on its most popular SUV Scorpio N. In such a situation, keeping in mind the increasing demand for its cars, the company has reduced the waiting period of its cars considerably.
The company has been successful in reducing the order backlog. It has achieved a reduction of 60 thousand in order backlog in a span of 3 months.
There has been a reduction in booking cancellations
The company's primary focus has been on increasing production. Due to increase in production, delivery has also increased. With these efforts, Mahindra has reduced the pending orders to 2.26 lakh units by February 1, 2024. The Rs 60,000 reduction in open bookings is significant as customers can now expect quicker delivery.
This will also help in reducing the number of booking cancellations. Booking cancellations had increased by almost 10% during November 2023 to January 2024. Now the company has also said that by January 2024, booking cancellations had reduced to less than 8%.
With 1 lakh orders pending for Scorpio
Mahindra SUVs are getting bookings of around 50,000 units every month. With increased production, Mahindra is able to increase deliveries by about 40 thousand units every month.
This has helped in reducing the overall order backlog. However, there is still a significant backlog for the popular Mahindra SUV.
The best-selling product is the Scorpio and Scorpio N, which collectively have 101,000 open bookings. Every month Scorpio and Scorpio N are getting an average of 16 thousand bookings.
35 thousand orders pending for XUV700
On the other hand, there is open booking for 35 thousand units of Mahindra XUV700. This SUV is getting an average of 7000 bookings every month.
In January, Mahindra introduced the 2024 version of XUV700. Along with cosmetic touchups, new things related to luxury and technology have been included in it.
Mahindra has also prepared a new MX Petrol AT base variant. Here, Bolero and Bolero Neo have done open booking of 10 thousand units.
They are getting an average of 11 thousand bookings every month. The combined order backlog for the XUV300 and XUV400 stands at 8800 units. Its average booking is around 9000 units per month.
