The Kalamkar News, Uttar Pradesh Liquor Consumption: Uttar Pradesh, the largest state of the country, drinks more alcohol today. Alcohol consumption has increased to record levels in the last few years. Data from the state excise department shows that liquor worth more than Rs 10 to 10 crore has been consumed every day in many districts of Uttar Pradesh.

Consumption increased so much in 2 years-

It has been said in a news that liquor and beer worth Rs 115 crore is consumed every day in Uttar Pradesh. According to the data received, there is hardly any district in the state where the daily sale of liquor and beer is less than Rs 2.5 to Rs 3 crore. Liquor consumption in the state has increased rapidly in the last few years. Just two years ago, the average daily liquor consumption in the state was around Rs 85 crore.

Highest consumption in these 2 districts -

In the news, quoting an Excise Department official, it has been said that the daily consumption of liquor in many districts of the state is Rs 12 to 15 crore.

Noida and Ghaziabad are the districts with the highest alcohol consumption. In these two districts, liquor and beer worth Rs 13 to 14 crore is consumed every day.

No less than the residents of these districts-

Agra, a district teeming with tourists, is not far behind, with an average daily consumption of Rs 12 to 13 crore. Rs 10-12 crore are spent daily in Lucknow district.

Meerut and Kanpur are also in double digits. Liquor worth Rs 10 crore is consumed daily in Meerut, while liquor worth Rs 8 to 10 crore is consumed in Kanpur. The cost of liquor in Varanasi every day is six to eight crore rupees.

Due to this reason the demand is increasing-

Excise officials say that the consumption of liquor and beer has increased in the last two to three years in almost every district of the state. It is interesting that 40 to 50 percent of the total alcohol consumption figures are country liquor drinkers.

The officer says there are many reasons for alcohol consumption. People's income and living standards are improving. Social acceptance of liquor is gradually increasing and the Excise Department has strictly controlled smuggling.

Sales have increased across the country-

ET had earlier reported in a report that in the last financial year in India, people bought about 40 crore liquor cases. Calculating an average from this shows that in the financial year 2022-23, alcohol drinkers bought about 4.75 billion bottles of 750 ml.

Sales figures show that demand for liquor increased in every category. Rum, whiskey, brandy, gin or vodka, any type of liquor is excellent. Among these also, premium liquor, i.e. liquor with higher price, was sold more.
