The hassle of reading will end in MP, rechargeable electricity smart meters will be installed soon

Electricity Smart Meter: Under the RDSS scheme being run by the Government of India, smart meters will now be installed in Madhya Pradesh. Under this scheme, all people's electricity meters will be converted into smart meters.

Electricity Smart Meter: Under the RDSS scheme being run by the Government of India, smart meters will now start being installed in Madhya Pradesh. Under this scheme, all people's electricity meters will be converted into smart meters. Giving information, the company said that they have received approval to install 41 lakh 35 thousand 791 meters. 

This scheme is being started from Bhopal city of Madhya Pradesh. A total of 208128 meters are to be installed in this city. AMIPS has got the work of installing at least 57102 meters by 13 October 2024. 

Along with this, about 54247 smart meters will have to be installed every month. A target of installing 11,42040 meters has been set by 13 June 2026.

In the first phase of the smart meter scheme, 9,77048 electricity consumers will get the benefit of smart meters. 

Along with this, smart meters will be installed at 9477 electricity sub-stations and 1,55515 distribution transformers. In Phase 1, it will be started from these main cities Bhopal, Sehore, Vidisha, Narmadapuram, Gwalior, Datia, Bhind, Morena, Guna and Shivpuri districts. 

Benefits of smart meters 

According to the current tariff plan, electricity consumers are being given a discount of 25 paise per unit. 

0 to 5% discount on recharge. Maximum discount of up to ₹20 is being given in many sectors except domestic consumers. 

Facility to recharge without power disconnection when balance is exhausted for the next three days. 

You will be able to check your balance daily through the app. 

In the future, there will be no need to buy a new meter after installing a rooftop.
