PKC-ERCP agreement reached
The issue of Chambal's master plan was there for a long time in both the states. The effort to make the master plan started about two years ago, but there was no agreement between the two states.
Now with the same party being in power in both the states, the way for this plan has been opened. After the PKC-ERCP agreement between the two states, now the process of making a master plan for Chambal and its tributaries is going on.
Rajasthan has a 24.6% share and Madhya Pradesh has a 75.4% share in the expenditure on the right main canal originating from Kota Barrage. Madhya Pradesh is also irrigated by this. Gandhi Sagar, Rana Pratap Sagar, Jawahar Sagar and Kota Barrage were built on this river.
Chambal river in both the states
Chambal river is 965 km long. Its length in Rajasthan's border is 376 km. 2.29 lakh hectares of land in Hadoti is irrigated by Chambal river. The right main canal originating from Kota Barrage of Rajasthan has a water flow capacity of 6656 cusecs.
Water flows in 124 km of Rajasthan from this right main canal. Water impacts 248 km of borders in Madhya Pradesh. Let us tell you that consensus has been reached in the technical committee. At the initial level, a plan is underway on the proposal to prepare a master plan of Chambal.
This big plan is likely to be discussed in the secretary level meeting of both the states. Mutual consensus has been reached on this proposal in the technical committee of Rajasthan Madhya Pradesh Chambal Water Control Board.
