Bhojpur News: In Bihar's Bhojpur district, the government is giving incentives to farmers to encourage them to cultivate coarse grains. The Agriculture Department of Tarari block in the district has formed 16 clusters and allocated seeds to farmers for sowing jowar, bajra, mandua, ragi, china, kodo, sawa.

There will be 25 farmers in each of the 16 clusters formed in the block. Each farmer will be provided seeds for sowing from one hectare to two hectares. Coarse grains are used as green fodder for animals along with eating them. To promote the cultivation of coarse grains, agricultural advisors are encouraging farmers by spreading publicity.

Coarse grains are cultivated in the Kharif season. While on one hand farmers are planting paddy, on the other hand by cultivating coarse grains, they can get good production with less irrigation. Coarse grains are considered very good to eat from a health point of view. Doctors are also advising to eat coarse grains.

Agriculture officer Sushant Sharma said that to cultivate coarse grains, farmers will first have to buy seeds from their own pocket. Farmers will be given Rs 2000 after buying seeds and Rs 2000 after growing the crop. At present, very few farmers are cultivating coarse grains. But after getting the incentive amount, it is expected that the area will increase.
