The country's leading electric two-wheeler company Bajaj has planned to launch a cheap electric scooter to provide relief to customers. If you are unable to buy it due to the expensive electric scooter, then you can wait for the cheap Chetak.

Chetak electric scooters are made of steel. The new electric scooter can also be equipped with a steel body. According to media reports, the EV company is working on bringing a cheaper version of the Chetak electric scooter to attract a large consumer base.

The company plans to increase the scope of its retail stores three times in the coming few months. Bajaj Auto already sells electric scooters under the Chetak brand name. Its two variants - Chetak Urban and Chetak Premium are available in the market.

Smaller battery in the new Chetak EV

The cheaper version of Chetak can be launched with a smaller battery pack. It is likely to use a hub-mounted motor. Bajaj entered the EV market in January 2020. In FY 2024, the company has sold 1.06 lakh Chetak electric scooters. Apart from this, the company's market share has improved to 14 percent.

Bajaj will increase the number of stores

Currently, Bajaj Chetak is available for sale in 164 cities of the country with around 200 stores. Bajaj Auto wants to take the number of stores to around 600 in the next three to four months.

Talking about the new electric scooter, the cheaper model of Chetak can be given the same features as the existing electric scooter. Its design can also be similar to the existing Chetak electric scooter.

Bajaj has not disclosed its price. According to reports, the cheaper variant of Chetak will be launched in May. The company will disclose the price of the new Chetak during the launch event itself. The ex-showroom price of Bajaj's current Chetak Urban is Rs 1.23 lakh.

At the same time, the ex-showroom price of Chetak Premium is Rs 1.47 lakh. Bajaj Chetak Urban covers a distance of 113 km on a single full charge. While the single charge range of Chetak Premium electric scooter is 126 km .
