The Kalamkar News, New Delhi: Mahindra Thar has a different story in the Indian market. There is huge demand for this SUV in the market since its launch.
Thar prices in India start from Rs 11.25 lakh. The company has shared model-wise sales details of Mahindra cars from January 2024, which shows that along with XUV700, Scorpio and other models, Thar also had strong sales in January.
If the figures are to be believed, the sales of diesel variant of Mahindra Thar SUV in January 2024 stood at 89%. This means that except 11 percent people, everyone else liked its diesel variant.

Mahindra sold a total of 6,059 units of Thar in January 2024, of which the diesel variant alone accounted for 89 percent share with 5,402 units.
The company sold 657 units of dual door Thar SUV. This is an increase of almost 100 percent compared to 334 units sold during the same period last year. On the other hand, the company has sold 4,076 units of SUV in diesel avatar last year.
Mahindra Thar production
Talking about production, Mahindra manufactured 5,500 units of diesel Thar, whereas 4,987 units were produced during the same period last year. Similarly, from January 2023 to January 2024, the production of petrol variant increased from 346 units to 671 units.
Mahindra's electric Thar
Let us tell you that Mahindra is going to launch the electric version of Thar. This will be very different from the upcoming Mahindra Thar EV concept model.
The company had introduced it as Thare at an event in South Africa last year. The upcoming Thar EV will be 5-door instead of 3-door. Dual motor setup will be seen in the upcoming Thar EV.
With this, a battery pack of 60 to 80kWh can be seen. The car may be launched in 2025 or later. Its price can be between Rs 25 to 30 lakh.
