Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw is the founder of Biocon Limited . The market value of this company today is 347000000000 (3 trillion 47 billion rupees). 

It is a biopharmaceutical company . He was born on 23 March 1953 in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. At present his age is 70 years. His father's name was Rasendra Majumdar.

Where did Kiran Majmudar-Shaw study?

Kiran Majmudar-Shaw did her early schooling from Bishop Cotton Girls High School, Bengaluru. After this he studied from Mount Carmel College affiliated to Bangalore University. Kiran graduated from Biology and Zoology from Bengaluru University in 1973.

Kiran wanted to become a doctor

Kiran Majumdar's dream was  to become a doctor, but her dream remained unfulfilled because she could not get the scholarship. 

However, he later studied malting and brewing at the University of Melbourne, Australia and earned the Master Brewer degree in 1975.

When was Biocon established?

Kiran Mazumdar founded Biocon in 1978 after returning from Australia. He started this company in the form of a small garage  with just Rs 10,000. 

The company got its start by extracting papain enzyme from papaya. It is used to soften meat. Apart from this, he also tried his luck in the business of extraction of insiglass used in clarifying beer. 

Within a year, Kiran achieved great success and Biocon became the first company to export enzymes to many parts of America and Europe. At present, Kiran's net worth is Rs 23247 crore.
