Big relief for Delhi-Noida and Gurugram residents, now tomatoes will be available at cheaper rates in these areas

Khabar TV (Bureau):  Delhi NCR Tomatoes Price:  After the rising prices of tomatoes in Delhi NCR, the government has given relief to the people. The National Cooperative Consumers Federation of India Limited (NCCF) has announced to sell tomatoes at the rate of Rs 60 per kg in New Delhi and some areas of NCR on 29 July 2024. According to NCCF, the aim of this move is to reduce the retail prices of tomatoes in the Delhi NCR region, which will provide necessary relief to the consumers.  

The Managing Director of NCCF has confirmed that tomatoes will be sold in some areas of New Delhi NCR at a retail price of Rs 60 per kg from 29 July 2024. The areas of Delhi NCR where tomatoes will be sold include Krishi Bhawan, CGO Complex, Lodhi Colony, Hauz Khaz Head Office, Parliament Street, INA Market, Mandi House, Kailash Colony, ITO, South Extension, Moti Nagar, Dwarka, Noida Sector 14 and Noida Sector 76, Rohini and Gurugram.   

According to NCCF, the mega sale of tomatoes will start from July 29, 2024 (Monday) and will expand to other places in Delhi NCR in the coming days. NCCF has said that this initiative reflects NCCF's commitment to support consumers amid rising food prices and stabilizing the market. 

It is worth noting that due to the supply of food items being affected due to rains in different parts of the country, the price of tomato in the national capital reached Rs 100 per kg recently.

The average price of tomato in the country is Rs 73.76 per kg  -

Tomatoes are available at Rs 100 per kg at Mother Dairy's retail outlet 'Safal' in Delhi. According to the data of the Department of Consumer Affairs, the retail price of tomatoes in Delhi on Saturday was Rs 93 per kg. 

According to government data, the all-India average price of tomatoes on July 20 was Rs 73.76 per kg. A senior official of the Food Department said that prices rose sharply last week due to supply disruptions due to extreme heat and subsequent excessive rains.
