AMT gearbox available in Tata Tiago and Tigor CNG, booking started

The Kalamkar News, Tata Tiago & Tigor CNG AMT Booking: Tata Motors has unveiled AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) versions of the CNG-powered Tiago hatchback and Tigor compact sedan. 

This is the first time that a CNG car has been introduced with automatic gearbox in the Indian market. Interested buyers can book the AMT versions of Tata Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG online or from authorized dealerships by paying a token money of Rs 21,000.

Tata Tiago CNG AMT has been introduced in 3 trims – XTA CNG, XZA+ CNG and XZA NRG. Tigor CNG AMT will be made available in two trims – XZA CNG and XZA+ CNG. 

Both these CNG cars are equipped with the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder NA petrol engine with factory-fitted twin-CNG cylinders. In petrol model, this engine generates 85bhp and 113Nm. In CNG mode, power and torque remain at 73bhp and 95Nm respectively.

Tata Motors claims that the AMT gearbox has been modified to improve the ability to drive the CNG automatic vehicle at low speeds in traffic. 

Both models have also got new color options. Tiago CNG comes with two new colors – Tornado Blue and Grassland Beige (Tiago NRG) while Tigor CNG has been introduced in the new Meteor Bronze color.

It is worth noting that both these cars can start directly on CNG. In these, the driver does not need to switch to CNG mode, rather the car can start on CNG from the very beginning. This is the first car in the segment which can start directly on CNG.
